Permanent Jewelry on You

FAQs

What is a permanent bracelet?

A permanent bracelet is a piece of jewelry designed to be worn continuously without a clasp, creating a seamless, custom-fit strand around the wrist. Instead of using a traditional closure that allows the wearer to take the jewelry on and off, the two ends of a high-quality 14K gold chain are precisely measured to the individual's wrist and micro-welded together.

What kind of gold chains do you offer?

We offer 14K gold chains in Yellow, White, and Rose gold in a variety of designs.

What is the cost of getting a permanent bracelet?

Our permanent bracelets start at $115, and custom charms can be added starting at $75. A $25 deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment, which will be fully credited toward your final purchase.

Where are you located?

Our Porter Lyons Flagship Store is located in the French Quarter at:
623 Royal St., New Orleans, LA 70130

What is the minimum age to receive this service?

Clients between the ages of 7-17 must have a legal guardian present. Waivers must be signed by all clients.

Does it hurt?

The permanent jewelry process is simple, quick, and 100% pain free.

How do i remove my permanent bracelet?

1. Locate the Welded Link

Examine the bracelet to find the specific link where the two ends of the chain were joined together. This link will look slightly different from the others, often showing a tiny, smooth, flat spot or a small weld mark where it was fused shut.

2. Position Your Scissors or Wire Cutters

Using a sharp pair of household scissors or a small pair of jewelry wire cutters, position the blades directly over that welded link.

  • Note: If you plan to have the bracelet re-welded in the future, cutting precisely at the original weld spot preserves the rest of the chain's length, making it much easier to put back on later.

3. Snip the Chain

Carefully apply pressure to cut cleanly through the single welded link. The bracelet will instantly open and slide off your wrist.

4. Save the Chain (Optional)

If you are removing the bracelet for a temporary reason—such as a medical procedure, an MRI, or an athletic event—do not throw the chain away. High-quality metal chains (like 14K or 24K gold) can easily be brought back to Porter Lyons to be micro-welded shut again for a fee of $25.
